Using Voice Scribe
Dictate health entries hands-free using Voice Scribe — on-device speech recognition powered by Apple Intelligence on iOS and Android Insights on Android.
For informational and educational purposes only. VitalSync is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. All content presents health data against established clinical reference ranges. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Using Voice Scribe
Voice Scribe lets you log health data entirely by voice — no typing required. It uses on-device speech recognition (Apple Intelligence on iOS 18+ / Android Insights on Android) so your spoken words are never sent to a server.
Where Voice Scribe is Available
The microphone icon appears on every manual-entry form in VitalSync:
| Screen | What you can dictate |
| Vital Signs (BP, HR, SpO₂) | Reading values and optional note |
| Blood Sugar | Glucose value, meal context, time of day |
| Weight | Weight value and unit |
| Medications | Dose taken, time, any side-note |
| Allergy log | Allergen name, reaction type, severity |
| Reminders | Reminder title, date, time, recurrence |
| General notes | Free-form health notes on any entry |
How to Use Voice Scribe
> "My blood pressure was 122 over 78 this morning after breakfast."
Tip: You do not need to use exact field names. VitalSync's on-device model understands natural language — "one twenty-two over seventy-eight" and "122/78" are both recognised.
Supported Phrases — Examples
| What you say | What gets filled |
| "Blood pressure 118 over 76" | Systolic 118, Diastolic 76 |
| "Heart rate 64 beats per minute" | HR 64 bpm |
| "Blood sugar 95 fasting" | Glucose 95 mg/dL, context: Fasting |
| "Weight 74 kilograms" | Weight 74 kg |
| "Took Lisinopril 10mg at 8am" | Medication dose logged |
| "Allergic to penicillin, severe reaction" | Allergen: Penicillin, Severity: Severe |
Privacy — How It Works
Voice Scribe processes your speech entirely on your device:
- iOS 17+: Uses Apple's on-device speech framework (no internet required).
- iOS 18+ with Apple Intelligence: Enhanced accuracy and natural language understanding — still fully on-device.
- Android: Uses Android Insights on-device speech recognition (no cloud upload).
- No audio is stored — the microphone is active only while you hold the button.
- No transcript is sent to VitalSync servers or any third party.
Your voice data never leaves your device. This is a core part of VitalSync's privacy-first design.
Microphone Permission
Voice Scribe requires microphone access. If you have not granted it:
iOS:Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
| Microphone icon is greyed out | Grant microphone permission (see above) |
| Transcription is inaccurate | Speak clearly in a quiet environment; try rephrasing |
| Fields not auto-filling | Ensure you include the metric name in your phrase |
| "Voice Scribe unavailable" message | iOS 16 or earlier — upgrade to iOS 17+ for on-device recognition |
