Projected A1C Estimate

How VitalSync estimates your HbA1c from your logged glucose readings.

Projected A1C Estimate

VitalSync calculates a projected HbA1c estimate from your logged glucose readings using the ADA's eAG (estimated Average Glucose) formula.

Formula

eAG (mg/dL) = (28.7 × A1C) − 46.7

VitalSync inverts this to estimate A1C from your average glucose:

Projected A1C = (eAG + 46.7) ÷ 28.7

Accuracy

This estimate requires at least 14 days of glucose readings across different times of day (fasting, post-meal, bedtime) for reasonable accuracy. The more readings you log, the more accurate the estimate.

Viewing Your Projected A1C

The projected A1C appears on the Blood Sugar detail screen with a colour-coded range indicator:

RangeColour

< 5.7%Green (Within normal reference range)
5.7–6.4%Amber (Pre-diabetic reference range — ADA)
≥ 6.5%Red (Diabetic reference range — ADA)

Important: This projected A1C is a mathematical estimate for informational and educational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional or your physician for an official HbA1c laboratory test and clinical interpretation.
