Managing Daily Doses
Every time a medication reminder fires, VitalSync gives you three actions to record what happened with that dose. These actions are available both from the notification itself and from inside the app.
The Three Dose Actions
| Action | What It Does | Adherence Impact |
| ✅ Mark as Taken | Logs the dose as administered with the current timestamp | Counts as taken — improves adherence % |
| ⏭ Skip | Records the dose as intentionally skipped for that schedule | Counts as skipped — noted in adherence log but does not lower adherence % the same way as a missed dose |
| 🔄 Reschedule | Delays the reminder by 15, 30, or 60 minutes | Dose remains pending until you act on the new reminder |
Acting from the Notification
When a reminder fires, long-press the notification (or swipe down on iOS) to reveal the action buttons without opening the app:
Acting from Inside the App
If you dismiss the notification without acting, you can still log the dose:
You can also log a dose retroactively by tapping Log Past Dose and selecting a date and time.
How Skipped Doses Appear in the Adherence Log
The adherence calendar uses three colours:
| Colour | Meaning |
| 🟢 Green | Dose taken (on time or within the grace period) |
| 🟡 Amber | Dose taken late (outside the grace period) |
| 🔴 Red | Dose missed (no action taken before the next scheduled dose) |
| ⬜ Grey | Dose skipped (intentionally recorded as skipped) |
Skipped doses are shown in grey and are listed separately from missed doses in the adherence summary. This distinction is important for your Personal Health Report.
How Dose Actions Appear in the Personal Health Report
The Medications section of your Personal Health Report includes a per-medication compliance table:
| Metric | Description |
| Doses Scheduled | Total doses due in the report date range |
| Doses Taken | Count of ✅ Mark as Taken actions |
| Doses Skipped | Count of ⏭ Skip actions |
| Doses Missed | Count of doses with no action recorded |
| Adherence % | Taken ÷ (Scheduled − Skipped) × 100 |
Skipped doses are excluded from the adherence denominator so that intentional skips (e.g., a doctor-advised drug holiday) do not unfairly lower your adherence score.
Setting a Grace Period
By default, VitalSync allows a 30-minute grace period after a scheduled dose time before marking a dose as late. You can adjust this per medication:
Reminder: VitalSync is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Always follow your prescriber's instructions regarding dose timing, skipping, and rescheduling. If you are unsure whether to skip or delay a dose, consult your pharmacist or healthcare provider.
