Bluetooth Devices Overview

How VitalSync uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to connect to compatible medical devices and automatically log vital sign readings.

Bluetooth Devices Overview

VitalSync supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity to compatible medical devices, allowing readings to be transferred directly to the app without manual entry.

How It Works

  • Your BLE medical device takes a measurement (e.g., blood pressure reading).
  • The device broadcasts the result over BLE.
  • VitalSync receives the reading and creates a new log entry in the appropriate tab (Vitals, Blood Sugar, etc.).
  • You review and confirm the entry before it is saved.
  • Supported Device Categories

See the Supported BLE Devices article for the full compatibility list.

    What VitalSync Does NOT Do

    • VitalSync does not use Bluetooth for location tracking
    • VitalSync does not pair with Apple Watch directly (Apple Watch data is read via Apple Health / HealthKit)
    • VitalSync does not keep a persistent background BLE connection — scanning only occurs when you open the relevant screen

    Privacy

BLE scanning is active only while the app is in the foreground on the device pairing screen. No device identifiers are stored on any server. All paired device preferences are saved locally on your device.
