Bluetooth Device Troubleshooting

Device Not Appearing in the Scanner

  • Check Bluetooth is on — Settings > Bluetooth > On.
  • Check VitalSync has Bluetooth permission — Settings > VitalSync > Bluetooth > Allow.
  • Put your device in pairing mode — refer to your device's manual. Most devices require you to hold a button until an LED flashes.
  • Move closer — keep the device within 1 metre of your iPhone during initial pairing.
  • Restart Bluetooth — toggle Bluetooth off and on in Control Centre, then retry.
  • Device Appears But Will Not Connect

  • Remove the device from iOS Bluetooth settings — Settings > Bluetooth, tap the (i) next to your device, tap Forget This Device.
  • Remove the device from VitalSync — Settings > Bluetooth Devices > swipe left > Remove.
  • Restart VitalSync and re-pair from scratch.
  • Reading Not Transferring After Connection

  • Ensure you take the measurement after the device shows as connected in VitalSync (not before).
  • Some devices require you to tap a Sync or Transfer button after measuring.
  • Check that the reading appears on your device's display — if the device itself did not register a reading, nothing will transfer.
  • Connection Drops Mid-Reading

  • Keep your iPhone and device within 3 metres.
  • Avoid areas with heavy wireless interference (e.g., near a microwave or crowded Wi-Fi environment).
  • Ensure your device battery is above 20%.
  • Readings Appear Twice

If a device syncs via both BLE and Apple Health/HealthKit, you may see duplicate entries. Disable one source: either turn off HealthKit write permission for that metric in the device's companion app, or disable BLE in VitalSync for that device.
