Allergy Severity Levels Explained
VitalSync uses a three-tier severity scale that aligns with standard clinical allergy documentation.
| Severity | Badge Colour | Typical Reactions |
| Mild | Yellow | Localised skin reactions (rash, itching), mild nasal symptoms, watery eyes |
| Moderate | Orange | Widespread urticaria (hives), angioedema, vomiting, wheezing |
| Severe | Red | Anaphylaxis, severe bronchospasm, cardiovascular compromise, loss of consciousness |
How to Choose the Right Level
Use the most severe reaction you have personally experienced from the allergen, not the theoretical maximum. If you have only ever had a mild rash from a food, select Mild even if that food can theoretically cause anaphylaxis in others.
Severe Allergies in Your Health Report
Entries marked Severe are highlighted at the top of the Allergies section in your Personal Health Report PDF, making them immediately visible to any clinician reviewing the document.
Clinical note: VitalSync severity levels are for personal documentation only. A formal allergy grading (e.g., Ring and Messmer Grade I--IV) should be assigned by a qualified allergist following a supervised challenge or skin-prick test.
